Chipawo Theatre Company Commemorates the World Theatre Day

It was a pleasant day to the Chipawo Theatre Company and other groups as well as individuals as they were commemorating the World Theatre Day. Today Chipawo Theatre Company commemorates the World Theatre Day under the theme "Take a child to the Theatre so that they can See, Hear, Feel, Think and Imagine " and a sub theme titled "Take a parent to the Theatre". The event took place in Mt Pleasant at Chipawo Premises in Harare. The theme was set internationally with the aim of inspiring young people about theatre, mapping way forward on how to develop Zimbabwean theatre as well as creating "the Theatre" in all parts of the country. Chipawo was formed in 1984 with the aim of supporting the local talent within  Zimbabweans. ZAOGA To Donate Necessities To People Affected by Cyclone Idai

ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries to donate necessities to the people in Chimanimani district who are affected by heavy rains with strong winds known as Cyclone Idai which left many people homeless and destroyed some properties like shops, cars and livestock. Many people are living in fear because of Cyclone which is predicted to continue for the next three days. Currently people are being evacuated to mountainous places without anything to eat or to put on hence ZAOGA is appealing to the generality of Zimbabweans and other well wishers to donate basic necessities such as food stuffs like rice, cooking oil, mealie meal and beans, non food stuffs like bankets and clothes as well as monetary contributions. Veteran Journalist Judith Makwanya Died

The famous veteran journalist Judith Makwanya died. She was 56. It is a sad loss that Zimbabwe has lost a great media personal who served her country for so long. Reports revealed that she was admitted on a particular private hospital on Monday with a medical emergency.  The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting confirmed Makwanya’s death but did not give details. Writing on Twitter, the Information Ministry said: Government learns with sadness of the untimely passing on of Diplomatic Correspondent Ms Judith Makwanya. Judith served her country with distinction and was one of the journalists placed on the sanctions list which became a Roll of Honour for Patriots. Ministry of Education Launches Universal Education Program

Yesterday, the ministry of Education launches the Universal education program which will cater for vulnerable children and children living with disabilities. The event took place in Highfield at Zimbabwe Hall in the morning were hundreds of students and parents gathered to support the launch. Many organizations participated in this event and they did exhibitions of their services. This program was initiated after the rapid growth of students dropouts and children living with disabilities due to lack of financial support hence there are arrangements which are being done by the Ministry in partnership with some organizations such as Chiyedza Care Center in order to take school drop outs and children living disabilities back to school or to equip them with other life skills which will help them in their future lives. Restless Development calls for a Dialogue

Today Restless Development called for a dialogue about gender and discrimination as well as sexual reproductive health. The event was held in Ushehwekunze. Various organizations supported the event such as the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Legal Foundation Resources, Zichire, National Aids Council Young People's Network, community leaders as well as church members. The dialogue brought out some pressing issues such as the issue of teenagers who are engaging in sex work in Hopely at Anton shopping center, early child marriages in Ushehwekunze and Hopely , the engagement of young people in sexual activities without proper protection, how gender is worsening the issues of violence especially against the female counterparts and the resistance of the sex workers and the illegal bar owners to abide to the law.
